I am excited (and nervous) to be starting a new round of the 131 Method. I did a few weeks of this program back in December and had great results, but fell off the wagon and went back to old habits. My number one limitation with making a lifestyle change is having a dieter’s mentality. I am a sucker for quick fixes and I LOVE me some junk food. With that being said, I learned so much in the 3 short weeks from the 131 Method, I know this program can really work to eliminate many of my current symptoms (chronic fatigue, nausea, headaches, inflammation, energy, etc…).
The 131 Method is a 12-week program that helps you create a program that works for you. There are no set rules. Instead, there is a wealth of information provided to help you make the right decisions for your own health. For me, I was really unsure of what I may have sensitivities to. Back in December, I eliminated dairy, gluten, processed foods, artificial sugars, and nightshades. I felt good, but it was hard! I was completely addicted to sugar. After a few weeks, I felt really good. All the puffiness was gone, my wedding rings fit better, but my mindset still was not changed. Needless to say, I gave up when I should have kept going. I have still emersed myself in all of the information but have not been practicing what I have been learning, which is about to change!
My Current Approach
From the last round I completed, I found I was able to tolerate dairy and nightshades well but will continue to minimize my dairy consumption because of mixed research I continue to read. For the first 4 weeks, I will be following a keto-style diet (low carb, high fat) to reset my hormones and metabolism. I plan to re-introduce gluten when the time comes (at the end of the program) to see how my body reacts.
I will be checking in every Monday with an update on how the previous week went. Looking forward to making healthy lifestyle changes for myself and becoming a healthy remodel for my children.
